Who We Are

The Henrietta Brewer House is a state licensed Assisted Living Residence that has been family owned and operated for over 30 years in the town of Vineyard Haven, MA on the island of Martha's Vineyard.

In 1994 Scott Gerstmar and Ellen Gerstmar opened their doors after caring for Scott’s grandmother Henrietta Brewer (June 22nd, 1900—December 13th, 1993) who lived in their home briefly before her passing. Since then the Gerstmars have been passionate about providing a home-like environment for seniors who need assistance that cannot be met in their own home.

The Henrietta Brewer House is located in a residential neighborhood within walking distance from the center of Vineyard Haven and the Steamship Authority. Our home provides 14 private rooms, decks and common areas in which to enjoy private or group activities. Delicious and nutritious home cooked meals are served daily and overseen by a registered dietitian. The care plan is coordinated with our registered nurse and the care followed up by our staff of certified nurses aids.

Maybe you are a senior who considers Martha's Vineyard your home, but are now finding it difficult on your own, or you might be family member looking to bring your loved one closer to you. The Henrietta Brewer House is here to provide care, in a comfortable, private environment, with a highly skilled and compassionate staff.
